  1. Non Formal Education:

Through Don Bosco Technical School Maligaon and Don Bosco Green Skill Institute a number of non-formal courses were carried out in the province. Establishment of the new Don Bosco AI Institute at Maligaon. Shri Yugal Joshi, Director of AI at NITI Aayog assured his support for the initiative, recognizing its potential impact on education and technology in the region.

Federal Skill Academy: The first batch of 71 trainees from the Federal Skill Academy, who underwent skill training at Don Bosco Institute, Kharghuli, graduated on 21st October 2024. The event saw the presence of the Regional Head Manager (East), alongside the Branch Managers of Fancy Bazaar and Paltan Bazaar, who presented the completion certificates to the graduates. It was a proud moment for both the FDRL sponsors and the students, who gained valuable skills through the program. This milestone highlights the success of the academy’s efforts in empowering young minds for future success.

The mission aims to provide students with a comprehensive skill education experience from grade 6 to 12, encompassing:

  1. Multi sector skill education from grade 6 – 12
    1. Employability skills from grade 6 – 12 (this includes self-awareness, problem solving, interpersonal skills, critical thinking etc.)
    1. Guest Lectures / field visit from grade 6 – 12 (real life exposure to the application of concepts and skills)
    1. Internship from Grade 11 & 12 (real time experience of the world of work)
    1. Career counseling for Grade 10 & 12 (informed post-secondary choices)
    1. Career pathways for post grade 12 (part time/ full time jobs / Higher tech education? Work integrated higher education)

This mission focus on preparing students for the workforce and future careers by providing them with relevant skills, experiences, and guidance.

DBTS and other vocational centers in the province, in collaboration with DB Tech, aim to bridge education and livelihood by providing youth with employment and entrepreneurial opportunities. Key initiatives include:

  1. Introducing skill education in schools and colleges through collaboration with DBS –

Guwahati, DBSEM and the Higher Education Commission.

  • Establishing a skills hub in Maligaon with the Help of Guwahati province and Don Bosco School, Guwahati to showcase multi-skill vocational education through courses, workshops, and hobby classes.
  • Utilizing DBTS facilities for:
    • Training of trainers
    • Incubating young entrepreneurs
    • Innovation labs (similar to the Jorhat model)

The goal is to promote “learning by doing” and universalize skill education, empowering youth with practical skills and entrepreneurial opportunities.

The facilities that will be made available in the DBTS campus will be

  1. Engineering Lab: Welding, Carpentry, Fabrication, Automobile
  2. Electrical: Electrical wiring, home appliance repairing, LED assembly & repair, Solar maintenance technicians.
  3. Food Processing: cooking & baking, Technology in food
  4. Gardening: Nursery and Agri Techniques, Mushroom cultivation, bee keeping, Poultry, fishery, duckery etc.
  5. Electronics: Robotics, Censors, App Design, Automation

These facilities will be mobilized and set up with the help of DB Tech and other agencies and TATA trust.

Skills on Wheels (Bus)

DBTS, along with Barpeta and Amguri, is launching “Skills on Wheels” in collaboration with TATA Trust and DB Tech. This initiative aims to:

  1. Provide vocational skill training in remote, small schools with infrastructure limitations.
    1. Offer career counseling and outreach to 10th and 12th grade students.
