- Higher Education:
The Higher Education Commission of the Guwahati Province convened on July 18, 2025, at Don Bosco College, Chapaguri, to outline strategic plans for the development of its institutions. The meeting focused on short-term and long-term goals for Don Bosco Colleges in Chapaguri, Diphu, and Tura, as well as Assam Don Bosco University. The plans emphasize academic excellence, infrastructure enhancement, sustainability, and community engagement, aligning with the Salesian mission of holistic education.
Key Plans and Initiatives
Short-Term Plans (2025–2027):
Infrastructure Development: Completion of the hostel building, creation of a science block and auditorium, and upgrading libraries with modern resources (e-books, journals).
Faculty Development: Workshops on modern teaching methods, technology integration, and student engagement strategies.
Student Support: Establishment of a counseling center and a digital feedback platform for students.
Community Engagement: Initiatives like awareness campaigns, cleaning drives, and collaborations with NGOs for internships and training.
Green Campus: Waste segregation, recycling programs, and tree-planting campaigns.
Long-Term Plans (2025–2030):
Academic Expansion: Introduction of professional courses (e.g., digital marketing, AI) and collaborations with other HEIs for student exchange and research.
Sustainable Campus: Solar panels, rainwater harvesting, and organic farming projects.
Placement and Careers: A dedicated career counseling center to enhance student employability.
Programmes conducted during the Year:
Inter-College Students’ Exchange Programme entitled SYNERGY 2025 was organized by Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Don Bosco College, Tura, Meghalaya from 1st to 3rd May, 2025. Select students numbering up to twenty each from five colleges of Tura and forty students the host institution participated in this programme. The objectives of this maiden venture in Garo Hills was students’ self-discovery, learning from each other, enhancing academic and personal growth through exposure to different learning environments.
