Novices of Sunnyside, Upper Shillong
The Salesian Novitiate, Sunnyside, Upper Shillong, organised a seminar on “The Dream of Don Bosco” on 26 December 2025, marking an important formative moment for the novices as they reflected on the charism and vision of St John Bosco.
The seminar began with a welcome by Rev Fr Paul Olphindro Lyngkot, SDB, Novice Master, who greeted the novices and set the tone for the day. In his opening address, he highlighted the significance of Don Bosco’s prophetic dream at the age of nine and its lasting relevance for Salesian life, mission, and commitment to the young, especially the poor and the abandoned.
As part of the seminar, the novices were divided into different groups, and each group was entrusted with the task of presenting a programme based on their understanding of the Dream of Don Bosco. Through creative presentations, reflections, skits, symbols, and explanations, the groups brought alive the key elements of the dream, God’s call, the role of Mary Help of Christians, the pastoral method of kindness, and the transformation of lives through love rather than force.
The group presentations not only showcased the talents and creativity of the novices but also demonstrated a deep assimilation of the Salesian spirit and pedagogy. The seminar fostered active participation, reflection, and a renewed appreciation of Don Bosco’s vision, encouraging the novices to live their vocation with zeal, joy, and missionary enthusiasm.
