Snehalaya-CFG Students at the Pre-Christmas Celebration at DBS, Panbazar.
Snehalaya – Child Friendly Guwahati (CFG) celebrated Christmas with great joy, colour and enthusiasm at the Don Bosco School, Panbazar premises on Monday 22nd December 2025, bringing together children, staff members, guests and well-wishers for a meaningful and festive gathering. The programme reflected the true spirit of Christmas through prayer, cultural performances and messages of love, peace and hope.
The celebration began with a welcome by Rev. Fr. Lukose Cheruvalel SDB, Director of Snehalaya, who graciously welcomed the Chief Guest, invited dignitaries, staff, volunteers and the children of Snehalaya. In his address, Fr. Lukose spoke beautifully about Christmas as the celebration of God’s greatest gift to humanity – Jesus Christ. He reminded everyone that Christmas calls each person to share love, compassion and care, especially with children and the vulnerable. He encouraged the children to experience Christmas not only as a festival of joy, but as a time to grow in kindness, gratitude and hope.
Rev. Fr. Alex Kattakayam SDB, Principal of Don Bosco School, Guwahati, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. In his message, Fr. Alex spoke about the joy of Christmas and how God’s love came down to the world in the form of a little child. He emphasized that the birth of Jesus brings joy, peace and new life to all, especially to those who feel forgotten or unloved. Addressing the children in a very personal manner, he encouraged them to believe in themselves and reminded them that they are precious in the eyes of God and society.
The celebration was made vibrant by a series of cultural performances presented by the children. Traditional and contemporary dances, set to joyful Christmas tunes, captivated the audience and showcased the talents, confidence and enthusiasm of the children. The colourful decorations, Christmas balloons, stars and the beautifully designed backdrop added to the festive atmosphere, making the entire venue come alive with the spirit of Christmas.
Staff members, volunteers and guests appreciated the efforts of the children and the Snehalaya team in organizing such a meaningful celebration. The programme also served as an opportunity to strengthen the sense of family and belonging among the children, reinforcing Snehalaya’s mission of creating a safe, caring and child-friendly environment.
