Marking the joyous occasion of the Silver Jubilee of Don Bosco Institute (DBI), Kharghuli, a vibrant Mini Salesian Youth Movement (SYM) meet, titled “Youth Connect,” was held from November 20 to 23, 2025. The event successfully brought together more than three hundred young people from various centres across the province for a dynamic blend of spiritual enrichment, leadership training, and fellowship.
The four-day programme was packed with activities designed to energize the body, mind, and spirit. The days began early with invigorating hikes and Zumba sessions, followed by a series of insightful talks and faith-based gatherings.
The formal sessions commenced on Friday, November 21st. The youth were engaged with relevant topics for the modern generation. Rev. Fr. VM Thomas SDB opened the discourse with a session on “Leadership Skills,” followed by Fr. John Barman MSFS, who connected with the participants on “Gen Z Connect: Lead, Learn, Thrive.” The previous day, Fr. Bivan Rodrigues Mukhin SDB addressed the participants on the influential role of “Social Media.”
A highlight of the event was the spiritual commencement on the morning of November 21st, where the youth gathered in a solemn and uplifting Holy Mass at the DBI Amphitheatre, setting a prayerful tone for the days to follow.
The learning continued on Saturday with Mr. Anjan Choudhury guiding the youth through a two-part session on the practical theme of “Aligning dreams to reality.” The afternoons were dedicated to recreational outings, including a trip to the Brahmaputra riverfront, and friendly competitions, fostering a strong sense of community and camaraderie.
The celebrations reached a crescendo on Saturday evening with a special Jubilee Program, honouring 25 years of Don Bosco Institute’s service, followed by a dinner and a lively musical band performance.
The event concluded on a graceful note on Sunday, November 23rd, with a celebratory Holy Eucharist, after which the participants, filled with new inspiration and strengthened bonds, departed after breakfast.
Youth Connect 2025 served as a powerful testament to the Salesian mission of walking with the young, providing a platform for them to connect, grow in faith, and equip themselves to be proactive leaders in the Church and society.
