Rev. John Moolachira, D.D., Archbishop of Guwahati at the Holy Mass on the occasion of All Souls Day at Uzanbazar.
On the occasion of All Souls’ Day, a solemn Holy Mass was celebrated at the Catholic Cemetery, Uzanbazar, by His Grace Most Rev. John Moolachira, D.D., Archbishop of Guwahati. The Mass was concelebrated by Rev. Fr. Biju Michael SDB, Regional Councillor for South Asia, Rev. Fr. Sebastian Kuricheal SDB, Provincial, Rev. Fr. Vincent Xalxo SDB, Parish Priest, and other Salesian priests. A large number of religious sisters and lay faithful gathered at the cemetery to pray for the repose of the souls of the departed.
In his homily, Archbishop Moolachira reflected on the inevitability of death and the Christian hope of resurrection. He reminded the faithful that “death is for all,” yet as believers in Jesus Christ, “we will rise again with Him at the end of time.” He emphasized that Jesus’ words, “I am the Resurrection and the Life,” serve as a profound source of consolation and hope for all Christians, assuring them of eternal life with Christ.
The graves of the departed Salesians buried at the Catholic Cemetery were beautifully decorated with flowers, and candles were lit in remembrance of their dedicated service to the congregation and to the people.
The commemoration of the deceased Salesians of the Province will continue with a special Holy Mass on 10 November 2025 at the same cemetery, honoring their memory and contribution to the Salesian mission.
