Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Haflong, on 25 October 2025 witnessed an inspiring and memorable event today as Hon’ble Mr. Justice Sanjay Kumar Medhi, Judge of the Gauhati High Court, graced the campus to deliver a talk on “Career Prospects in Law.” The programme was jointly organised by the Don Bosco Alumni Association and Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Haflong.
The event aimed to enlighten students about the dynamic opportunities and responsibilities within the legal profession. Justice Medhi, in his address, encouraged young minds to view the study of law not merely as a career choice but as a vocation to uphold justice and serve society. His talk highlighted the diverse avenues available in the legal field, from advocacy and judiciary to public service and academia.
Among the distinguished guests present were Smti. Bobidita Gogoi, Chief Judicial Magistrate, Dima Hasao; Shri. Jadev Pegu, Principal Secretary, Mising Autonomous Council, Dhemaji; Rev. Fr. (Dr) Johnson Parackal, Principal of Don Bosco College, Diphu; and Sri. Debojit Thaosen, Senior Advocate, Gauhati High Court.
The programme also featured a colourful traditional dance performance that reflected the rich cultural heritage of the region, adding vibrancy to the event. An interactive session followed, during which students eagerly posed questions to Justice Medhi and the panel of guests, gaining valuable insights into the practical world of law and justice.
Rev. Fr. Xavier Beck, SDB, Principal of Don Bosco School, Haflong, warmly welcomed the gathering and expressed heartfelt gratitude to Justice Medhi for his gracious presence and inspiring words. He also thanked all the dignitaries, alumni members, and students for making the event a resounding success.
The day concluded with an atmosphere of enthusiasm and aspiration, as students departed with a deeper understanding of the noble profession of law and a renewed motivation to pursue careers that contribute meaningfully to society.
