A day of great joy and thanksgiving dawned for the faithful of Sonajuli No. Santhal Basti under the Parish of Dimakuchi, as the newly constructed St. Dominic Chapel was solemnly blessed and inaugurated on Sunday, October 19, 2025. The blessing ceremony and the Holy Mass was presided by Rev. Fr. Sebastian Kuricheal, SDB, Provincial. The event witnessed the presence of Fr. Anugrah Tete, SDB, Parish Priest of Dimakuchi, along with Fr. Xavier Tete, SDB, and Fr. Albinus Dhanwar, SDB, Assistant Parish Priests, and several other priests and faithful from neighboring villages.
The blessing of the chapel marked a historic and faith-filled moment for the small but vibrant Catholic community of Sonajuli. The villagers, who had long prayed and worked tirelessly for a place to gather in worship, expressed deep gratitude to God for fulfilling their long-cherished dream. The new chapel stands as a visible sign of their deep faith, unity, and hard work, a testimony to how collective effort and trust in God can turn a humble vision into a beautiful reality.
During the blessing ceremony, hymns of thanksgiving filled the air, and the faithful joined in prayer with hearts full of emotion and gratitude. The Holy Eucharist, celebrated immediately after the blessing, became a moment of spiritual renewal for all present.
Fr. Sebastian Kuricheal, congratulated the people of Sonajuli for their dedication and perseverance. He commended the Parish Priest, Fr. Anugrah Tete, and his team for their commitment and pastoral care in guiding the faithful toward the completion of the project. He encouraged the faithful to continue nurturing their faith and to make the chapel a true center of community life and spiritual growth.
Fr. Anugrah Tete, in his words of gratitude, thanked the Provincial and all the benefactors who supported the project through their prayers, resources, and encouragement. He also lauded the unity and hard work of the local faithful, who contributed not only financially but also through manual labor, carrying materials, and giving their time generously for the construction.
The blessing ceremony concluded with a felicitation program in which the community expressed their appreciation to all who played a part in realizing their dream. The joyous occasion was followed by a community meal, fostering fellowship and strengthening the bonds of faith and friendship among the parishioners.
