Savio Hr. Sec. School, Garobadha, kicked off on Friday, September 26th, to an overwhelmingly positive response from the student body. The initiative is designed to provide professional training in Basketball, Dance, and Football during the Puja holidays.
The programme has been strategically structured to maximize student participation and skill development. Morning sessions are dedicated to the fast-paced action of Basketball and the rhythmic movements of Dance, while the afternoons are reserved for the popular sport of Football. This well-planned schedule ensures optimal use of the holiday period, allowing students to engage in productive physical activity.
“The primary goal is to provide professional training, promote physical fitness, and encourage active participation in extracurricular activities,” a school spokesperson stated. “We believe these disciplines are crucial for instilling values of teamwork, discipline, and a healthy lifestyle.”
The training is being led by experienced coaches, Mr. Sengkam R. Marak and Mr. Richard K. Marak, who are guiding the young talents through structured practice sessions.
The student response has been a clear indicator of the programme’s necessity and appeal. A total of 85 students have enthusiastically registered across the three disciplines:
- Basketball: 35 students
- Dance: 20 students
- Football: 40 students
School authorities have reported that the students’ eagerness to learn and their remarkable discipline during the initial sessions have been key factors in the programme’s early success.
This coaching initiative underscores St. Dominic Savio School’s strong commitment to the all-round development of its students. By integrating such structured extracurricular activities, the school is not only nurturing future athletes and artists but also shaping well-rounded individuals poised for success both on and off the field.
