
Most Rev. John Moolachira, Archbishop of Guwahati along with the Parish Priest Rev Fr Amit Lakra SDB and others during the Holy Mass on Sunday 14 September 2025 at Kumarikata Parish.
On 14 September 2025, the Catholic community of St. Joseph’s Church, Kumarikata celebrated the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross with great joy and devotion as Most Rev. John Moolachira, Archbishop of Guwahati, administered the Sacraments of Confirmation and First Holy Communion to a large number of the faithful. A total of 249 candidates received the Sacrament of Confirmation while 70 children made their First Holy Communion during the solemn Eucharistic celebration.
The Holy Mass, attended by the parishioners and guests, became a moment of grace and renewal for the parish community. The presence of Rev. Fr. Nicodim Aind SDB, Vice-Rector, Councillor, and Principal of Don Bosco School Sashipur, also in charge of Aspirants, added significance to the event. He was joined by Fr. Paul, two clerics, and all the aspirants, some of whom also received the sacraments.
The celebration was meticulously organized by Fr. Rector and Parish Priest in close collaboration with Fr. Peter, Fr. Victor, and the Parish Pastoral Council members. Their efforts ensured that the liturgy and all arrangements were carried out smoothly and prayerfully.
Following the Holy Eucharist, a short felicitation programme was held to honour the Archbishop and to express gratitude for his pastoral presence. The Archbishop expressed his joy and satisfaction at meeting the faithful, encouraging them to remain steadfast in their faith and to live as true witnesses of Christ.
The celebration, blessed with good weather and the enthusiastic participation of the faithful, was marked as a day of spiritual renewal and thanksgiving for the entire parish community.
