
The players of Satgaon Parish after clinching the 5th Inter-Parish Football Tournament 2025, organized by the Diocese of Diphu.
Mary Help of Christians Church, Satgaon Parish, clinched the title of the 5th Inter-Parish Football Tournament 2025, organized by the Diocese of Diphu, with a resounding 6–0 victory over Saryajan Parish in the final held at Japrajan, Karbi Anglong, Assam.
The concluding match was graced by the presence of Dr. Numal Momin, Deputy Speaker and Local MLA, Most Rev. Bishop Paul Mattekatt of Diphu, and other distinguished guests. A large crowd witness the match with keen interest. This triumph marks the second consecutive championship win for the West Karbi Anglong side.
Satgaon Parish not only lifted the trophy but also dominated the individual awards. Team captain Thomi Marak was named Best Player of the Tournament, goalkeeper Melin Sangma earned the Best Goalkeeper Award, and forward Reberen, who netted an impressive 13 goals in just five matches, secured the Golden Boot.
The champions displayed consistent excellence throughout the tournament, registering convincing victories in all their matches, except for the semi-final where Mawjem Mission put up a spirited fight before falling narrowly 1–2. The well drilled team conceded just 2 goals and scored a staggering 32 goals on thier way to the pinacle.
The success story of the Satgaon team was made possible by the hard work and desire to win of the players, the dedicated guidance of the Salesian Fathers, the effective leadership of parish youth, the encouragement of key community leaders, and the generous support of parishioners.
