Sunday School Teachers of Satgaon Parish after their meeting on Sunday 31 August 2025.
The Sunday School teachers of Mary Help of Christians Church, Satgaon Parish, convened a meeting on Sunday, August 31, after the First Mass to evaluate their activities and plan for the future. The meeting was attended by 35 teachers, together with Fr. Albert Thyrniang, Parish Priest, Sr. Silsila Marak, Sr. Sonia Marak, and Mr. Omega Momin, Parish Secretary.
Each village team presented a six-month activity report, highlighting both achievements and challenges faced in catechetical formation. Key issues discussed included the regularity of classes, frequent changes of teachers, availability of textbooks, maintenance of registers, the role of teachers, and the support of local leaders and parish authorities.
One of the significant resolutions was the introduction of Half-Yearly and Final Examinations for Sunday School students. For this year, only the Final Examinations will be held, consisting of practical (prayers) and written tests. The practical examinations will be conducted in the villages on November 23, 2025, while the written examination will take place at the parish centre on November 30, 2025. Sr. Silsila was entrusted with forming a team to prepare the question papers, and results will be declared on December 14, 2025.
Another important proposal was the suggestion that beginning in 2026, only those with a Sunday School certificate would be eligible to receive First Communion, Confirmation, and Marriage preparation courses. While the proposal received strong support, Fr. Albert clarified that such a major decision would require Parish Council approval.
The meeting concluded with a prayer and blessing imparted by the Parish Priest, marking the day as an important step in strengthening catechetical formation in the parish.
