The first-ever public job fair in Tezpur, organized by Bosco Reach Out (BRO) – Don Bosco Job Placement Network (JPN), Guwahati, in collaboration with ANMA Integrated Development Association (AIDA), District Employment Exchange – Sonitpur, and Don Bosco Socio-Technical Institute (DBSTI), Tezpur, brought together hundreds of job seekers and top employers on the DBSTI campus, creating a platform for career opportunities and professional growth.
The inaugural session, held from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM, began with the traditional lighting of the lamp and a prayer song by DBSTI students. The event was graced by several dignitaries: Rt. Rev. Michael Akasius Toppo, Bishop of Tezpur, who served as Chief Guest; Rev. Fr. Biswajit Ekka, Tezpur Social Service Society, Guest of Honour; Shri Santanu Saikia, Young Professional, MCC – Ministry of Labour & Employment, Sonitpur; Rev. Fr. Paul Rabha SDB, Director, DBSTI Tezpur; and Rev. Fr. Ignatius Gari SDB, Associate Director, BRO Guwahati.
In his keynote address, Bishop Toppo congratulated the organizers for launching such a meaningful initiative. He emphasized that job fairs create a larger platform for youth to access better opportunities and acknowledged the contributions of BRO, Guwahati, and AIDA, Dimapur, in extending valuable services across Northeast India.
Fr. Paul Rabha SDB encouraged the youth to seize opportunities for growth and highlighted Don Bosco’s enduring mission of empowering young people through education and skills. Fr. Biswajit Ekka spoke about the ongoing social initiatives in the Tezpur region, while Fr. Ignatius Gari SDB outlined the vision of the Don Bosco Job Placement Network, stressing its role in building employment pathways and supporting youth employability in the Northeast.
Following the inaugural program, participating companies presented their hiring requirements. Recruiters included Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd., SBI Life Insurance, Quess Corp. Guwahati, Adhaan Solution Pvt. Ltd., Springal Food Technologies, and Gram Tarang Technical Vocational Education & Training Pvt. Ltd.
The fair drew over 350 online registrations and 254 in-person participants, with more than 100 candidates shortlisted for potential employment. Attendees engaged in multiple interview rounds and career interactions throughout the day, gaining exposure to real-time recruitment processes.
The event was coordinated by Mr. David Kujur, Coordinator, BRO–JPN, and Mr. Sebi Chacko, Coordinator, AIDA–JPN, under the leadership of Rev. Fr. Ignatius Gari SDB, Associate Director, BRO Guwahati.
Organizers expressed their commitment to continuing such initiatives in the future, strengthening collaborations between educational institutions, industries, and government bodies to empower youth and enhance employability across Northeast India.
