The Parish of Umswai came alive with youthful energy and spiritual fervor as it hosted the Summer Time Youth Camp from 18th to 20th July 2025, drawing enthusiastic participation from young people across the region. The three-day camp was marked by engaging sessions, joyful community life, spiritual nourishment, and cultural expression. There were 110 participants at the Youth camp.
The camp was formally inaugurated on 18th July by the Youth Leaders of Umswai, following registration in the morning. The opening day featured a dynamic session titled “Pilgrims of Hope” by Br. Sunit Ekka, group activities, and a Holy Mass celebrated by Fr. Jose Perunneparampil SDB, Rector, culminating in an evening of Camp Fire and Night Prayer that set the tone for a reflective and joyful gathering.
Saturday, 19th July, began early with meditation and morning Mass celebrated by Fr. Cherak Sangma, Asst Parish Priest. The youth participated in enriching sessions such as “Challenges for the Youth” by Fr. Saju Kariyil SDB and “Personality Development” by Br. Aswin. Sr. Meladaris and Sr. Rishailani engaged the campers in reflective discussions on “Knowing Your Church” and the “Pros and Cons of Social Media.” The evening was alive with preparations for the cultural programme, praise and worship, and adoration, allowing participants to deepen their relationship with God. The day concluded with a Recollection talk by Fr. Cherak Sangma SDB and solemn benediction.
On Sunday, 20th July, the youth welcomed the final day with a fresh spirit. After morning prayer and singing practice, the last formation session titled “Breaking Barriers and Good Friends vs. Toxic Friends” by the Brothers left a strong impression on the young minds. The concluding Holy Mass was presided over by Fr. Saju Kariyil SDB, Principal of Don Bosco School Umswai. A vibrant cultural programme followed, during which the youth showcased their talents through song, dance, and skits. The camp came to a close with a heartfelt concluding ceremony led by the youth leaders, who expressed their gratitude to the participants, resource persons, and organizers.
