The Summer Time Youth Ministry (STYM) Training 2025, held from 01–03 July at Don Bosco Institute, Kharghuli, concluded with resounding success, leaving the participating youth inspired, trained, and spiritually energised for their upcoming summer mission.
The programme was officially inaugurated on 1st July by Rev. Fr. Sebastian Kuricheal SDB, Provincial of the Salesian Province of Guwahati, who set the tone for the training by underlining the vision of the STYM initiative – to empower young people as agents of hope and joy in their communities.
The second day commenced with a Holy Mass at 6:30 am, celebrated by Fr. Kuriala Chittattukulam SDB, drawing participants into prayer and reflection. The morning’s highlight was a dynamic session titled Youth Alive, designed as an icebreaker to introduce themes of youth engagement in a fun and participative manner. Engaging sessions were then led by Rev. Fr. Cletus Sebastian, Mr. Ravi Hembrom, and Rev. Fr. Bivan Mukhim, focusing on youth animation and pastoral leadership.
The afternoon was filled with workshops and rehearsals. Participants, grouped into five teams, prepared skits, action songs, prayer moments, Faith Formation and Value Education sessions, and interactive games. Their presentations showcased creativity and teamwork, with constructive feedback given by Fr. Bivan, Fr. Cletus, Mr. Ravi, and Mr. Jemtus.
Evening discussions offered space for sharing field experiences, followed by the Rosary, dinner, and a goodnight talk to end the day on a spiritual note.
On the final day, Fr. Bivan Rodrigues Mukhim SDB presided over the Holy Mass, urging the youth in his homily to be “animators of hope and builders of communion.” The concluding session in Phukan Hall saw participants offering feedback through a Google Form, while three youths shared personal testimonies, affirming the programme’s impact on their faith, leadership, and mission readiness.
The programme ended on a fitting note with the Hymn to Don Bosco and a heartfelt closing prayer, marking the beginning of a summer filled with service, faith, and youthful zeal.
