The Don Bosco Institute, Kharghuli, hosted the Inauguration of the Summer Time Youth Ministry (STYM) programme on 1st July 2025. The event marked a significant milestone, reviving the STYM initiative after a hiatus of nearly eight years.
The programme was formally inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Sebastian Kuricheal SDB, Provincial of the Salesian Province of Guwahati. Addressing the gathering, Fr. Kuricheal highlighted the vision and purpose of the STYM initiative, which aims to rekindle the spirit of youth animation in the province. He commended the Province Youth Ministry Delegates for their dedication in reviving and reorganising the programme. “Just as Jesus called his disciples to be the salt of the earth, every youth leader is called to be the salt and light of the world dispersing darkness and bringing flavour to life,” he said, encouraging the participants to take the learnings from the training and share them with their peers.
Fr. Cletus Sebastian SDB, Executive Director of Don Bosco Institute and Youth Ministry Delegate, welcomed the dignitaries and participants. He expressed his gratitude for the presence and support of the Provincial, the Vice Provincial, and the Economer, noting their commitment to youth development in the Salesian spirit.
Fr. Bivan Rodrigues Mukhim SDB, Vice Provincial, addressed the youth and shared the detailed itinerary of the month-long youth animation programme. He acknowledged the collaborative efforts of the Provincial Team, the Economer, and Fr. Cletus in making the STYM a reality. He encouraged the young participants to make the most of the training sessions and emerge as leaders of faith and service.
The inaugural programme began on a joyful note with the youth welcoming the dignitaries through melodious songs, setting the tone for a vibrant and faith-filled journey ahead. With energy, music, learning, and spiritual depth, the STYM programme promises to be a transformative experience for the participating youth and for the youths in our Salesian presences.
