
On 21st June 2025, the Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Kokrajhar, marked International Yoga Day 2025 with a vibrant celebration themed “Yoga for One Earth, One Health.” The event, held in the school auditorium, saw the enthusiastic participation of around 330 students from Classes III, IV, and V, along with their teachers.
Organized under the guidance of Fr. Emmanuel Marngar SDB, Principal, and Bro. Paul Makri SDB, Vice Principal, the programme was coordinated by Ms. Rupashree Chakraborty, Ms. Chrismalisa Basumatary, and Ma’am Bibari B. Basumatary. The celebration aimed to promote awareness of yoga’s immense benefits for physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.
The event began with a brief introduction to the significance of Yoga Day, presented by Class V student Shreelekha Koch. Students, dressed in jerseys and trousers, were seated in orderly rows and guided through a well-structured yoga session. Under the leadership of Ms. Chrismalisa Basumatary, ten students demonstrated various asanas, stretching exercises, and pranayama techniques on stage, while others followed along with enthusiasm and discipline.
The session concluded with a short meditation, helping students experience inner calm and focus. The programme ended with a motivational speech by Ms. Rupashree Chakraborty, who emphasized the importance of integrating yoga into daily life for better health and improved academic performance.
The event not only fostered physical fitness but also instilled in the students a deeper appreciation for a holistic and balanced lifestyle. The celebration was a resounding success, leaving a lasting impression on all who participated.
