In a celebration of sportsmanship, unity, and youthful energy, the Don Bosco Schools of the Bodoland region came together on 08th June 2025 for an inter-school tournament held at the Don Bosco School grounds in Kokrajhar. The one-day sporting event saw spirited participation from Don Bosco schools of Amguri, Bengtol, Dotma, Ramfalbil, and Kokrajhar, with competitions in under-19 boys’ football and under-17 boys’ basketball.
The tournament commenced at 9:30 AM with a brief opening ceremony. The chief guest for the occasion, Fr Jimmy Sangma SDB, Principal of Don Bosco School Bengtol, addressed the assembled players and guests in his brief message. “We have come together in the name of Don Bosco, who gave great importance to the all-round development of students — and sports and games are a vital part of that,” he said. Encouraging the young athletes to compete in the true spirit of sportsmanship, Fr Jimmy emphasised the values of discipline and fair play.
The day saw intense competition, cheered on by enthusiastic students and staff alike. In the under-19 football category, the boys from Don Bosco Amguri put up a dominant performance, clinching a convincing 5–1 victory against the hosts, Kokrajhar. Meanwhile, the under-17 basketball final witnessed a reversal of fortunes, with Kokrajhar showcasing remarkable skill and teamwork to defeat Amguri with a commanding lead, securing the title in front of their home supporters.
The closing ceremony, held around 5:00 PM, was graced by Fr Emmanuel Marngar SDB, Principal of Don Bosco School Kokrajhar, as the chief guest. In his address, he commended the players, coaches, and organisers for a day marked by talent, dedication, and keen interest. Trophies and certificates were presented to the winning teams, runners-up, and match officials, recognising not only victory but also participation and fair conduct.
The entire tournament was efficiently coordinated under the leadership of Br Paul Makri SDB, Vice Principal of Don Bosco Kokrajhar, whose meticulous planning ensured a smooth and enjoyable experience for all.
