The Parish Day of Mary Help of Christians Church, Satgaon, was celebrated with devotion and solemnity on Sunday, May 25, 2025. The event was marked by three main segments: the Holy Eucharist, a cultural program, and a community meal. Around 2,000 faithful gathered to take part in the celebration.
Presiding over the Eucharistic celebration, parish priest Fr. Albert Thyrniang reflected in his homily on the powerful intercession of Mary Help of Christians during moments of crisis in the Church’s history, leading to the institution of her feast in 1814 by Pope Pius VII. He also encouraged the faithful to draw inspiration from the day’s readings, which emphasized resolving conflict through dialogue and openness to the Holy Spirit. Concelebrating the Mass were Fr. Charles Sangma, Fr. Daniel Sangma, and Fr. Sibil Sebastian, parish priest of Jengkha.
After the Mass, a short but vibrant cultural program took place in the parish auditorium. Graceful dances and heartfelt words of gratitude highlighted the spirit of the occasion. A special moment came with the presentation of awards to three local Church leaders in recognition of their long-standing service at both the village and parish levels. Their dedication was acknowledged with citations and mementos.
The celebrations concluded with a shared community meal, joyfully prepared and contributed by the parishioners themselves — a beautiful sign of unity and togetherness.
It may be recalled that the previous day, the Solemnity of Mary Help of Christians was celebrated in the parish under the leadership of ADMA with a Eucharistic celebration and fellowship meal. Founded by St. John Bosco, ADMA honors Mary’s maternal care, especially as experienced during the construction of her Basilica in Valdocco, Turin.
