Bro Rohit Minj and Bro Alexander Dodrai after their renewal of vows at Rongjeng.
In a beautiful display of fidelity and dedication to the Salesian vocation, 30 brothers of the Salesian Province of Guwahati (ING) renewed their religious vows in various communities across the province on 22 and 23 May 2025 in the days leading up to the feast of Mary Help of Christians.
Among the many meaningful celebrations, Bro. Alexander Dodrai and Bro. Rohit Minj renewed their vows at Holy Family Church, Rongjeng, during a Holy Mass presided over by Fr. Pojit Marak, the Rector of the community. Acting as the delegate of the Provincial, Fr. Pojit received the vows on behalf of the Congregation. The Eucharistic celebration was graced by the presence of Fr. Francis Lakra (Shallang) and Fr. George William (Rongkhon), who stood as witnesses to this joyful occasion. The event was attended by the hostellers and the lay faithful of the parish, making it a true celebration of faith and mission. Fr. Pojit took the opportunity to appeal to the faithful to pray for vocations and for the perseverance of those called to priesthood and religious life, especially from Rongjeng Parish, which awaits its first priest.
In Sashipur, CL. Petrush Maukal renewed his vows before the apostolic boys of the community and in the presence of Fr. Amit, the Rector. The simplicity of the setting did not diminish the depth of commitment witnessed by the young aspirants who look up to these brothers as role models of Salesian life.
Meanwhile, on 22 May, Bro. Philip Amsong renewed his vows at the Sirajuli Missionary Aspirantate, encouraging the young aspirants with his quiet yet firm witness. Three brothers made their renewal at Don Bosco Centre of Learning Tura.
At Bosco Mount, Rongkhon, three brothers also renewed their vows in the presence of the community, while Bro. Dipka Marak did so at Don Bosco College, Diphu, joining in the spiritual movement of recommitment taking place across the province.
The renewal of vows across multiple locations has not only reaffirmed the brothers’ commitment to the Salesian way of life but also inspired the communities they serve. These moments of renewal are testament to the ongoing vitality of the Salesian charism in the Northeast and to the quiet but determined witness of young men who have chosen to walk in the footsteps of Don Bosco.
