A two-day training programme titled “Catholic Education in the Northeast India: Preserving Identity, Planning the Future” was held on 10–11 April 2025 at the Inspiration Building, Kharghuli, Guwahati. Organized under the aegis of the Assam Catholic Education Council (ACEC), the event brought together numerous educationists, clergy, and religious from across the Northeast to reflect on the future of Catholic education in the region.
The training was graced by prominent Church leaders including Most Rev. Paul Mattekatt, Bishop of Diphu who is the Chairman for Education and Culture, NEIRBC, and Fr. Dr. Joseph Manipadam SDB, Coordinator, CCBI Apostolate for Education and Rev Dr Maria Charles SDB, CBCI office for Education and Culture. The sessions emphasized the importance of preserving the Christian identity in Catholic institutions while navigating modern educational challenges.
Representing the Salesian Province of Mary Help of Christians, Guwahati, Rev. Fr. Alex Kattakayam SDB, Principal of Don Bosco School, Guwahati, and Rev. Fr. Victor Tigga SDB, Principal of Don Bosco School, Kumarikatta, actively participated in the programme. Their presence highlighted the Salesian commitment to educational excellence and the integral formation of young minds in the Northeast.
