On March 27, 2025, the women of Mary Help of Christians Church, Satgaon Parish, West Karbi Anglong, undertook a Jubilee Pilgrimage to Diphu Cathedral. Encouraged by the Church during the Jubilee Year 2025, approximately 400 women participated in this spiritual journey. They were accompanied by three parish priests and a sister, traveling in six buses, private vehicles, and even by train.
Led by the leaders of the Women Sodality of the parish and the Diphu Diocese A.chik Catholic Women Association (DDACWA), the pilgrims set out at 5:30 a.m. for the three-and-a-half-hour journey from Satgaon Parish. Upon reaching the cathedral, they gathered at the entrance of the lawn in front of the magnificent structure. The pilgrimage procession was led by Fr. Albert Thyrniang, the parish priest, who carried the Jubilee Cross as they solemnly walked to the cathedral door. There, they were warmly welcomed by Fr. Thomas Maripurath, the Cathedral Parish Priest, who explained the conditions necessary to obtain the plenary indulgence of the Jubilee Year.
Following the prescribed prayers and rituals, the pilgrims entered the cathedral in an orderly manner. They spent time in adoration and received the Sacrament of Reconciliation before participating in the Holy Mass, celebrated by Fr. Vivek Lakra, Vice Principal of Don Bosco College, Diphu. During the homily, Fr. Bernard Sangma, MSFS, recounted the Eucharistic miracle at Umroi Retreat Centre, urging the faithful to deepen their devotion to the Eucharist. He also reflected on the Jubilee theme, “Pilgrims of Hope.”
The Eucharistic celebration was concelebrated by Fr. Albert Thyrniang, Fr. Simplicius Kerketta, Fr. Charles Ch Sangma, and Fr. Daniel S. Sangma, who also administered the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the pilgrims.
