(ANS – Naples) – On March 11, 2025, the Salesian House Don Bosco in Naples hosted the event “Creating Jobs, Building the Future”, promoted by the Campania Regional Department for Technical Training in collaboration with the CNOS-FAP (Centro Nazionale Opere Salesiane / Formazione Aggiornamento Professionale: Salesian National Centre for Technical Training) Foundation of Naples. The initiative aimed to strengthen the connection between education and the job market, with a specific focus on the crucial role of vocational training as a key tool for promoting youth employment.
The choice of venue was no coincidence, as highlighted by Fr. Fabio Bellino, Rector of the Don Bosco Community in Naples: “Don Bosco is recognized worldwide as the Father of vocational training, having always seen education as a means to guide young people into the world of work.” Fr. Bellino emphasized this vision by presenting the first apprenticeship contract from 1852, a historical testimony to the inseparable link between education, training, and employment. “Don Bosco conceived training not only as a technical and professional path but above all as a process of integral human and spiritual growth, shaping young people into conscious and responsible citizens.”
The event brought together institutions, experts, and companies—both national and international—all united in their goal of providing young people with practical skills and real job opportunities. The program was inaugurated following a visit by the President of the Campania Region, Vincenzo De Luca, to the Scuola del Fare (School of Technical Training), a collaborative initiative between the Salesians and various local and national organizations (Franca and Alberto Riva Foundation, San Gennaro Community Foundation, IF – Imparare Fare, Cometa Formazione, and Millepiedi Onlus).
The event began with a welcome address by Armida Filippelli, Campania’s Regional Minister for Vocational Training, followed by speeches from Fr. Bellino and Andrea Simoncini, National Head of the Dual Training System at the Ministry of Labor. Their speeches emphasized the essential role of vocational education in shaping the future of new generations.
One of the most significant moments of the day was the direct testimonies of young people and businesses. Through their experiences, the event vividly demonstrated the value of vocational training and the effectiveness of integrating theory with practice to facilitate entry into the job market.
The event concluded with a speech from the President of the Campania Region, who reaffirmed the importance of investing in vocational training and local development. He stressed that this commitment is not merely an economic strategy but a responsibility toward future generations. Providing young people with tangible training and employment opportunities means allowing them to build their future in their homeland, rather than being forced to migrate in search of better prospects.
This event was a tangible demonstration of the Salesians’ significant contribution to the development of vocational education in Naples, Campania, and throughout Southern Italy.
