
Don Bosco College, Golaghat, a NAAC Accredited “B+” institution, successfully organized a National Workshop on Research Methodology & Proposals today, March 11, 2025. The workshop was organized by the Research & Publication Cell in collaboration with the Department of Political Science, in Manlio Research Centre, Don Bosco College, Golaghat. Students, researchers, academic professionals from more than 5 colleges and universities were represented in the national academic event.
The workshop aimed to provide valuable insights and practical guidance to students, scholars, and faculty members on conducting effective research and developing compelling research proposals. The day commenced with spot registrations followed by the lighting of the lamp and welcome address by Dr. Fr. A. Amaladoss, Principal of Don Bosco College, Golaghat. Dr. Tapan Saikia, Associate Professor and Research Coordinator, Birangana Sati Sadhani Rajyik Vishwavidyalaya, delivered the keynote address. The chief of the morning session also released a book on “Empowering the Nation: Enhancing Financial Literacy for a Prosperous Future” during the inaugural session.
The workshop featured three technical sessions. Rev. Anto Paul, Principal, North East Institute of Social Sciences and Research Dimapur, Nagaland in the first technical session discussed on basics of social science research. He dwelt on different types of research designs, methods and the steps to do research and motivated the students, research scholars, academicians and policy makers.
In the second technical session Professor Yatindra Singh Sisodia, Director, Madhya Pradesh Institute of Social Science Research elaborated on the Basic Tenets of Research and Developing Effective Research Proposals. As a resource person, he interacted with the students and scholars to find out various challenges in the proposal writings and instilled the curiosity to aspire for research proposals.
During the third technical session, Dr. Piyali Dutta, Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science, provided a comprehensive guide on how to write review articles and publish in the journals, websites and present them in to ISBN books publications. She also provided the opportunity publish the research projects into the academic writings in the college journal of Don Bosco International Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences with ISSN: 3048-6823 (Online).
The Valedictory Function was graced by Dr. Bulbuli Boruah, Principal, Hemo Prova Borbora Girls’ College, Golaghat, who served as the Chief Guest and distributed certificates to the participants. The workshop witnessed active participation from students, research scholars and faculty members from various institutions. The event was successfully coordinated by Dr. Piyali Dutta, Research Coordinator, Don Bosco Research Cell and Publication and Asst. Prof. Mirghakhi Goswami, HOD, Department of Political Science, DBCG. Don Bosco College, Golaghat is a premier institution in Assam committed to providing quality education and fostering research and innovation. The workshop proved to be an enriching experience, fostering research enthusiasm among participants and reinforcing the importance of effective research methodologies in academic and professional spheres.
