Participants during the Second Day of the Retreat prior to the GC29.
On 18th February morning, the participants reflected on the “Mysticism of the Salesian Mission” through the insightful meditation offered by Fr. Pascual Chávez, Rector Major Emeritus.
Fr. Chávez emphasized the importance of the Salesian mission as a participation in God’s salvific plan, shedding light on Don Bosco’s motto: “Da mihi animas, cetera tolle”. He explained how this encapsulates the essence of Salesian mysticism and asceticism, combining prayer with total dedication to young people, especially the poorest and most vulnerable.
The mission, he said, is not just about doing, but about being signs of God’s prevenient love, living a joyful and dynamic holiness that inspires young people to discover God’s plan for their lives.
