The Don Bosco Centre for Learning in Tura came alive on 11 February 2025 as the past pupils gathered for the Past Pupils’ Meet, a special event dedicated to rekindling the enduring legacy of Don Bosco’s educational mission. The gathering served as a platform to strengthen the bonds of fraternity and reaffirm the values instilled by the Salesian institution.
Fr. Jogesh B. Sangma, Principal Don Bosco College Higher Secondary Section extended a welcome to all attendees, emphasizing the importance of staying connected to one’s roots. He highlighted the pivotal role of past pupils in carrying forward the teachings and values imparted during their formative years at Don Bosco. The meeting was graced by nine executive members, along with the Salesian confreres, who actively participated in the discussions.
The event commenced with an opening prayer led by Fr. Andreas Panna, setting a solemn and reflective tone for the gathering. This was followed by an inspiring message from Fr. Januarius S. Sangma, who spoke about the transformative power of education and the responsibility of past pupils in shaping a better society. He exhorted them to embrace the heart of Don Bosco, fostering unity and service as one family.
A significant highlight of the meeting was the presentation of the annual report by Mr. Dipu N. Marak, President of the Garo Hills Region. He provided insights into the initiatives undertaken by the past pupils’ association. He provided an update on Don Bosco Alumni Sec. School at Dareng Agal, which is efficiently managed by past pupils, reflecting their dedication to education and community service.
The event concluded with a prayer led by veteran and former president Mr. Hilarius Ch. Sangma, invoking blessings for the continued growth of the association. This was followed by a solemn tea gathering, where attendees had the opportunity to reconnect, share experiences, and explore avenues for future collaboration.
