The Annual Sobha of St. John Bosco Parish, Mendal began on the evening of 30th Januaary 2025, was celebrated with great fervor and devotion, drawing thousands of faithful over the four-day spiritual gathering. The solemn event, marked by animation talks, Holy Eucharist, and special sacramental celebrations, was a testament to the strong faith and unity of the parish community.
The Sobha commenced on Friday at 4:30 PM with a grand inauguration. The faithful were enriched by an animation talk by Fr. Krebith Sangma, setting a reflective tone for the event. This was followed by the Holy Eucharist, presided over by Fr. Januarius S. Sangma, SDB, and concelebrated by eight other priests. Around 1,000 people participated, embracing the spiritual start of the Sobha.
Saturday’s program featured a series of animation talks by Fr. Salnes Sangma, Fr. Levio Sangma, and Mr. Joachim Marak, providing deeper insights into faith and Christian living. The day’s highlight was the Marian procession, a beautiful expression of devotion to Mother Mary, leading into the Holy Mass celebrated by Fr. Linus Marak. The gathering saw a remarkable attendance of around 2,000 faithful.
On Sunday, the spiritual enrichment continued with an animation session led by Fr. Albert T. Sangma, SDB, from Damra. The Holy Eucharist was the central moment of the day, presided over by Rt. Rev. Andrew Marak, DD. It was a special occasion for young members of the parish, as several children received their First Holy Communion, and many others were administered the Sacrament of Confirmation. The celebrations were graced by a large congregation, making it a memorable day of faith and blessings.
The Sobha concluded on 03rd February 2025 at 8:00 PM with a Holy Eucharist offered for the deceased parishioners of Mendal Parish, a solemn moment of remembrance and prayer for the departed souls.
