On January 23, 2025, the members of the Salesian Family of the Guwahati region came together in a spirit of unity and joy to celebrate Salesian Family Day at the Don Bosco Provincial House, Guwahati. The event, centered on the STRENNA 2025 theme, “Anchored in hope, pilgrims with young people,” drew Salesian family members from across the city to reflect on their shared mission and deepen their commitment to serving the youth and God’s people.
The gathering commenced at 5:00 PM with tea and an opportunity for members to reconnect and foster communion. This was followed by a prayer service at 5:30 PM, which set a reflective and spiritual tone for the evening. The prayer service was animated by the junior sisters from Auxilium Provincial House, Christian Basti.
Fr. Sebastian Kuricheal, SDB, Provincial of Guwahati, warmly welcomed the attendees, emphasizing the importance of collaboration and unity in living out the charism of St. John Bosco. In his welcome address, the Provincial stated that “the study of the Strenna 2025 will help all members understand the mind of the Rector Major.” He further added that “the study of the Strenna is the study of what Don Bosco wanted to say to his sons and daughters.”
The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the STRENNA 2025, delivered by Fr. Bivan Rodrigues Mukhim, SDB, Vice Provincial. His thought-provoking insights into the theme provided a roadmap for the Salesian Family to journey with young people in faith and hope.
Due to time constraints, the group discussion and deliberation could not be held. However, these points will be discussed later within individual communities, and the outcomes of these discussions will be sent to the Provincial House. The study of the Strenna 2025 concluded with a vote of thanks by Rev. Fr. John Rabha, SDB, and a prayer led by Rev Sr Tessy FMA.
The evening concluded with a fellowship dinner, where participants shared ideas, experiences, and a renewed commitment to their shared mission.
