The 44th Annual Sobha of Mary Help of Christians Church, Satgaon Parish, concluded on January 21, 2025, with a heartfelt Thanksgiving Mass, marking the end of six days of vibrant spiritual activities.
A major highlight was the Eucharistic celebration on the third day, presided over by Bishop Paul Mattekat of Diphu Diocese. His Lordship administered the Sacrament of Confirmation to 96 young faithful during the Mass. In his homily, Bishop Mattekat commended the community’s deep faith and urged the newly confirmed to live boldly in accordance with Christ’s teachings. He encouraged the faithful to embrace the themes of repentance and conversion as they prepare for the Great Jubilee Year 2025, inviting them to make a pilgrimage to the Cathedral Church and walk through the ‘Holy Door’ as a sign of spiritual renewal.
The most significant day of the Sobha, Sunday, saw 146 children receiving their First Holy Communion during a Solemn Mass led by Fr. Lucas Marak, parish priest of Gojapara. The day also featured a lively choreography competition based on the Jubilee theme song, Pilgrims of Hope. Boldampara village claimed first prize, while Satgaon and Kollongamukh villages took second and third places, respectively.
On the second day, Fr. Jimbert Marak, a priest and YouTube sensation from Tura Diocese, captivated attendees with an inspiring Gospel concert following a Eucharistic celebration. His music and message left a lasting impression on the congregation.
The Sobha, hosted in the village of Bhellapara, revolved around the theme, “Walking Together as Pilgrims Towards a Fuller Life,” harmonizing with the Jubilee Year 2025’s theme, “Pilgrims of Hope,” and John 10:10, “I came to give life—life in all its fullness.” Local and guest speakers enriched the gathering with reflections on these themes, fostering faith and spiritual growth.
Devotional activities like the recitation of the Rosary, a candlelight procession honoring the Blessed Virgin Mary, adoration, and shared moments of prayer and reflection further deepened the spiritual experience.
