The funeral service of Late Kohendro Basumatary, father of Rev. Fr. Damian Basumatary SDB, Rector and Parish Priest of Bengtol, took place on January 14, 2025, in his village Bongaon under Doomni Parish. Late Kohendro Basumatary passed away on January 13, 2025.
The Holy Mass, celebrated at his residence, was concelebrated by 14 priests and attended by a large gathering of religious sisters, brothers, and parishioners. Fr. Damian Basumatary SDB himself presided over the Eucharistic celebration, while the homily was delivered by Fr. Sebastian Ishorary SDB, Rector and Director of Bosco Reach Out (BRO), Guwahati.
Representing the Provincial and the confreres of the province, Fr. Bivan Rodrigues Mukhim SDB, Vice Provincial, conveyed heartfelt condolences and messages of solidarity from across the province. Additionally, the Diocesan Administrator of the Diocese of Bongaigaon extended condolences on behalf of Bishop Thomas Pulloppillil DD, the Bishop of Bongaigaon.
