Brother Dominic Soren and the priests at the funeral of his dad Mr Manuel Soren.
The Funeral Mass of late Mr. Manuel Soren, father of Cl. Dominic Soren, SDB, was solemnly celebrated on the afternoon of 21 December 2025 at Don Bosco, Amguri. The Salesian community, along with priests, religious sisters, relatives, friends, and well-wishers, gathered in large numbers to mourn his passing and to pray for the eternal repose of his soul.
Mr. Manuel Soren passed away on 20 December 2025 while on his way to Guwahati for medical treatment. His sudden demise brought deep sorrow to the family, especially to his son, Cl. Dominic Soren, SDB, and the members of the Salesian Congregation who knew him closely.
The Holy Eucharist was presided over by Rev. Fr. Barnabas Marbi, SDB. He was joined by six other priests, including the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Babu Joseph; Rev. Fr. Bivan Rodrigues Mukhim, SDB, Vice Provincial; Rev. Fr. Anil Condpan, SDB, Director of Don Bosco School, Amguri; and other priests from neighbouring Salesian communities. Religious sisters, Salesian brothers, and a large number of faithful were also present, offering their prayers and support to the bereaved family.
In his homily, Rev. Fr. Barnabas Marbi reflected on the Christian hope of resurrection and eternal life. He reminded the faithful that death is not the end, but a passage to new life in Christ. He encouraged the family to find consolation in faith, prayer, and the promise of God’s abiding presence, even amid grief and loss.
The liturgy was marked by a spirit of reverence and deep emotion, as prayers were offered for the departed soul and for strength and comfort for the grieving family. The presence of priests and faithful from various centres highlighted the strong sense of fraternity, solidarity, and shared mourning within the Salesian family and the wider Church community.
Later, Bro. Dominic Soren, SDB, expressed his heartfelt gratitude through a message shared on WhatsApp. On behalf of his family, he thanked the Provincial, the Salesians, brothers, and communities for their prayers, presence, and support. He especially acknowledged the Provincial House Community, the Vice Provincial, and Bro. Jeniberth for accompanying him to his home. He also expressed sincere thanks to Rev. Fr. Barnabas and to the priests, brothers, and members from the Amguri, Kokrajhar, Dotma, and Bengtol communities for being present during the Holy Mass and the final rites.
Concluding his message, Bro. Dominic humbly requested continued prayers for the family and for the eternal repose of his father’s soul. The funeral rites stood as a moving testimony of faith, compassion, and the strength of the Christian community in times of sorrow.
