On 7 December, Fr. Daniel S. Sangma, Assistant Parish Priest of Mary Help of Christians Church, Satgaon, West Karbi Anglong, Assam, celebrated Holy Mass for migrant workers at Bosco Mani (Bosco Home) in Bangalore and took part in the Advance Christmas celebration.
In his homily and subsequent message, Fr. Daniel, the official delegate from Satgaon Parish, conveyed his heartfelt Advance Christmas greetings to the migrant workers, acknowledging that many of them would not be celebrating the feast in the Silicon Valley of India but in their own homes. He emphasized the importance of spiritual preparation for Christmas, drawing insights from the day’s readings. He urged the faithful to embrace a process of inner transformation so that they may worthily welcome the Saviour when He comes.
Around 80 participants, mainly from Satgaon Parish, attended the celebration before visiting their homes for their Christmas holidays.
Following the Eucharist, a vibrant Advance Christmas celebration took place. Fr. Varghese Pallipuram, SDB, Rector and Executive Director of Bosco Bangalore; Fr. K. J. Jose, Director of Bosco Mane; Fr. John Peter; Fr. Anthiah; Bro. Sam; Bro. Jubin; and the staff of Bosco Mane also joined the programme. In his brief message, Fr. Pallipuram noted that Christmas, the most widely celebrated Christian feast, continues to inspire people around the world. “Though the birth of Jesus took place more than 2,000 years ago in Bethlehem, may He come alive today in our hearts,” he said, calling for a meaningful celebration of this profound event in human history.
To the rhythmic tune of Christmas carols, known as Song Kristan in the Garo language, the participants joined hands and moved in a joyful circular dance, celebrating in unity and enthusiasm. A festive meal was served thereafter, bringing the evening to a warm and cheerful close.
