The Haflong Parish community joyfully welcomed Rev. Fr. Sebastian Kuricheal SDB, Provincial of the Guwahati Province, and Rev. Fr. Jayaprakash Anthonimuttu SDB, Province Economer, as they arrived for a three-day canonical visitation on November 17, 2025. Their arrival marked a moment of grace and renewal for the parish.
Rev. Fr. Albert D. Sangma, Rector and Parish Priest, together with Rev. Fr. P. J. Joseph, Rev. Fr. Xavier Beck, and members of the parish community, extended a warm and heartfelt reception to the distinguished visitors. The evening welcome ceremony began with a melodious song, setting a tone of gratitude and celebration.
In his welcome address, Fr. Albert D. Sangma expressed deep appreciation for the presence of the Provincial and the Economer, acknowledging the importance of their visit for the spiritual and communal life of the parish. As a gesture of honor, Fr. P. J. Joseph felicitated Fr. Provincial with a traditional muffler, while Mrs. Mary Anthony extended the same courtesy to the Province Economer.
Fr. Sebastian Mathew, who served in Haflong for 14 years as both Parish Priest and Principal, expressed immense joy at returning to a place he considers close to his heart. He thanked the Rector, the Salesian community, and the faithful for their warm and affectionate welcome, emphasizing that his visit was primarily for the canonical animation of the community.
The evening celebrations concluded with a joyful get-together in honor of Fr. Provincial and Fr. Economer, fostering camaraderie and a spirit of unity.
