The Catholic community of Mendal came together in joy and thanksgiving to celebrate the Jubilee of Rev. Fr. Tomey Anikuzhikattil SDB, Rector and Parish Priest of Mendal, on Sunday 16 November 2025 at the Catholic Church, Mendal. The occasion marked a significant milestone in Fr. Tomey’s dedicated life of religious profession and service to the Church and the Salesian Congregation.
A solemn Holy Mass was concelebrated by about 16 priests, including Rev. Fr. Sebastian Kuricheal SDB, Provincial; Rev. Fr. Jayaprakash Anthonimuttu SDB, Economer; and many Salesian confreres who shared in the joy of the jubilarian. The Holy Mass was presided over by Fr. Tomey himself, and the homily was delivered by Rev. Fr. Jogesh B. Sangma SDB, who highlighted the life of fidelity, commitment, and pastoral zeal lived by the jubilarian.
The celebration drew a large gathering of parishioners and well-wishers, who participated prayerfully in the Eucharistic celebration and expressed their deep appreciation for Fr. Tomey’s unwavering service. The faithful thanked God for the blessing of his priestly ministry, acknowledging his dedication, kindness, and pastoral guidance over the years.
Following the Mass, the parish community extended heartfelt congratulations to the jubilarians and offered words of gratitude for their tireless service to God and His people. The event concluded with a spirit of fellowship, joy, and renewed commitment to faith.
