Most Rev. Bishop Paul Mattekatt, Bishop of Diphu, Rev Fr Sebastian Kuricheal SDB, Provincial and others at the Holy Mass.
St. Paul Parish, Amkachi, celebrated the Silver Jubilee of the parish on 8th and 9th November 2025, marking twenty-five years of God’s blessings, guidance and unfailing love. The celebration commenced on 8th November with the hoisting of the Jubilee flag by Rev. Fr. Joachim Pumah Sdb, the Parish Priest, signifying the beginning of a grace-filled commemoration. Later in the evening, Rev. Fr. Joseph Teron, former Parish Priest of Amkachi, blessed the Jubilee pandal, released the Silver Jubilee Souvenir, and led the faithful in a solemn and prayerful Eucharistic Adoration, offering praise and thanksgiving for the many blessings bestowed upon the parish over the past 25 years.
The following day, Sunday, 9th November, dawned with great festivity as Most Rev. Bishop Paul Mattekatt, Bishop of Diphu, along with priests, religious, and guests, was warmly welcomed by the parish community through a traditional Karbi dance. The Bishop then blessed the newly constructed grotto, a Jubilee Memorial symbolizing faith and devotion, before presiding over the Solemn Holy Eucharist. During the Holy Mass, His Lordship also conferred the Sacrament of Confirmation on several young faithful, strengthening them in the Holy Spirit. In his homily, the Bishop invited the faithful to renew their commitment to Christ and to continue witnessing the Gospel with zeal and love. The Bishop beautifully compared faith to a tree that, once planted, takes root, bears fruit, and continually multiplies its seeds. So too, he noted, faith has grown in the parish of Amkachi, giving rise to many vocations to religious life from among its members.
Distinguished guests included Rev. Fr. Sebastian Kuricheal, SDB, Provincial and Mr. Uphing Maslai, local MAC, together with former Parish Priests, Religious Sisters, and faithful from neighbouring parishes. In his address, Rev. Fr. Sebastian Kuricheal expressed his deep appreciation for the missionaries, priests, sisters, and faithful who have contributed to the growth and development of the parish over the past twenty-five years. He fondly recalled the pioneering efforts of the early missionaries, whose dedicated service laid the foundations of faith in Amkachi. The celebration concluded with a felicitation ceremony and a Jubilee fellowship meal, joyfully shared by all. The Silver Jubilee of St. Paul Parish stands as a shining testament to twenty-five years of faith, perseverance, and divine blessing a moment of renewal, gratitude, and hope for the years to come.
