In a momentous celebration of faith and community, the new St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Karigaon was solemnly blessed and inaugurated on Sunday, October 26, 2025. The event, marked by vibrant cultural performances and a spiritually uplifting Holy Mass, was attended by over 2,000 faithful, signifying a historic day for Dotma Parish.
The day’s proceedings began at 9:00 A.M. with a welcome for the chief guest, Rev. Fr. Sebastian Kuricheal SDB, Provincial, Rev Fr Jayaprakash Anthonimuttu SDB, Economer and others. The inauguration ceremony was a blend of solemn ritual and rich local tradition. A graceful welcome dance set the tone, followed by the official blessing of the new church.
The formal inauguration included a blessing of the new church building, followed by a speech by the Parish Priest Rev Fr Sebastian Edathumparambil SDB.
In his address, Rev. Fr. Sebastian Kuricheal SDB, the Provincial, commended the faithful for their dedication and efforts in building the new church. His inspiring words underscored the importance of the church as a centre for both spiritual growth and community solidarity.
The spiritual highlight of the day was the Holy Mass at 10:30 A.M., presided over by Fr. Provincial. The congregation, a sea of over 2,000 devotees, participated with great fervour, filling the new sacred space with prayer and hymn. The Mass was a powerful testament to the vibrant and enthusiastic Catholic community in the region.
