The Inter-Provincial Quinquennium 2025, a significant gathering for the spiritual renewal of Salesian priests and brothers from the Provinces of Guwahati and Shillong, concluded on a solemn and inspiring note on September 26, 2025 at Siloam. The closing Holy Eucharist was celebrated by Rev. Fr. John Zosiama SDB, the Provincial of Shillong.
The three-day event, designed for the ongoing formation of young religious, was marked by reflection, prayer, and fraternal communion. The concluding liturgy served as a spiritual capstone, focusing on the core themes of the retreat.
In his homily, Fr. Zosiama delivered a powerful message centered on two pivotal aspects of religious life: Self-conviction in Ministry and Dedication to Priestly duties. Emphasizing the foundation of a priestly vocation, he stressed the importance of unwavering commitment to spiritual practices.
“We do not only come for the Holy Mass but we need to be there for the morning prayer and meditation,” Fr. Zosiama told the congregation of priests and brothers. He elaborated that beyond academic qualifications, it is profound self-conviction and personal dedication that enable one to faithfully fulfill the responsibilities entrusted to them.
Addressing the young Salesians directly, he spoke on the specific duties of a Salesian priest and expressed his hope that those present would wholeheartedly offer themselves in service to the Congregation and their respective provinces. He encouraged them to continually recall the commitment of their ordination and to pray for the grace of perseverance throughout their ministry.
The main celebrant, Fr. John Zosiama, was introduced to the assembly by Rev. Fr. Vivek Lakra SDB before the commencement of the Mass.
During the ceremony, Fr. Zosiama extended his heartfelt gratitude to Rev. Fr. Albert Johnson SDB, former Provincial of Trichy, for his role as the main animator of the Quinquennium 2025. He also acknowledged the diligent efforts of Rev. Fr. Jeevan Kishor Lakra SDB, Vice Provincial of Shillong, and Rev. Fr. Bivan R. Mukhim SDB, Vice Provincial of Guwahati, for their instrumental roles in planning the event and accompanying the young religious throughout the three-day retreat.
The vote of thanks was delivered by Rev. Fr. Reuben Lyngdoh SDB, who expressed appreciation for all those who contributed to the success of the spiritually enriching programme. The Quinquennium concluded with a sense of renewed purpose and fraternal unity among the Salesians of Guwahati and Shillong.
