On September 20, 2025, the Assam Don Bosco University paid a heartfelt tribute to the legendary singer Zubeen Garg, fondly known as the “Voice of Assam,” following the news of his untimely passing.
A special prayer service was held on the university campus, joined by staff, students, and parents who had gathered for the convocation ceremony. The event, however, was cancelled as a mark of respect to the beloved music icon whose melodies shaped the cultural identity of Assam for decades.
In their tribute, the University community recalled how Zubeen’s songs transcended generations, inspiring hope, unity, and love. “Your songs were not just music — they were the rhythm of our lives, the soul of our celebrations, and the comfort in our silence. You carried the spirit of Assam to the world, uniting us through every note you sang,” read the university’s message.
Though gone too soon, the singer’s voice and legacy continue to resonate deeply in the hearts of millions. As the University noted in its farewell message: “Though you are no longer with us, your voice will forever echo in our hearts, guiding us like a gentle tune through time.”
