On 12 September 2025, the men of Mary Help of Christians Parish, Satgaon, West Karbi Anglong, Assam, undertook a Jubilee pilgrimage to the Cathedral Church of the Risen Lord as part of the Jubilee Year 2025 celebrations.
About 700 faithful men, travelling in eight buses and several private vehicles, journeyed for over three hours to participate in this remarkable spiritual event. The pilgrimage commenced with a solemn procession to the entrance of the cathedral, where Fr. Thomas Maripurath, Cathedral Parish Priest, explained the conditions for receiving the Plenary Indulgence granted by the Church during this Ordinary Jubilee. He then led the rite of prayer and the opening of the Holy Door.
Following the Jubilee Cross, the pilgrims, led by Fr. Albert Thyrniang, Parish Priest of Satgaon, entered the cathedral through the Holy Door. The spiritual programme included Eucharistic Adoration, the Sacrament of Reconciliation, and the celebration of the Holy Mass.
The Holy Eucharist was presided over by Fr. Charles Sangma, Assistant Parish Priest of Satgoan while Fr. Thyrniang delivered the homily. Reflecting on the Gospel, he urged the faithful to look inward and examine their spiritual lives. He shared how the Jubilee celebrations in Satgaon parish have, time and again, inspired Christians to embrace repentance, renewal, and transformation through the message of the Cross. During the veneration of the Jubilee Cross in village chapels and homes the faith of the people is renewed and strengthened, observed the pastor.
Concelebrating the Mass were Fr. Dominic Teron, Assistant Parish Priest of the Cathedral, Fr. Vivek Lakra, Vice-Principal of Don Bosco College, Diphu, and Fr. Daniel Sangma, Assistant Parish Priest of Satgaon Parish. The priests also devoted time to hearing the confessions of the pilgrims.
The faithful completed the required conditions for the indulgence. The pilgrims then returned home deeply nourished in faith, grateful for the grace received on this rare and memorable occasion.
