
Students of Holy Family School, Rongjeng receiving the trophy after winning the best marching contingent under East Garo Hills District during the Independence Day Celebrations.
Holy Family Higher Secondary School, Rongjeng, brought immense pride and honour to the institution by delivering an exceptional performance at the Sub-Divisional-Level Independence Day Celebration, held at Milawe LP School Field, Darugree.
The Guides Contingent clinched First Prize, earning the prestigious title of “Best Marching Contingent (Girls)”, while the Scouts Contingent secured Second Position, standing out among numerous participating schools across the Sub-Division.
The event was graced by Shri Jim M. Sangma, Hon’ble MLA of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, as the Chief Guest. Distinguished dignitaries in attendance included the Sub-Divisional Officer, Block Development Officer (BDO), and the Chief Crime Branch Investigator of Williamnagar, among others.
A total of 42 Scouts and Guides from Holy Family Higher Secondary School took part in the march past, demonstrating impeccable coordination, strict discipline, and an inspiring display of patriotism. Their outstanding performance reflected the school’s strong commitment to excellence in extracurricular activities.
The Government of Meghalaya, through the Sub-Divisional Administration of East Garo Hills, Williamnagar, formally conferred the prizes, with Shri Jim M. Sangma personally presenting the awards. The accompanying certificates, adorned with the official government seal and the Ashoka Chakra, stood as powerful symbols of unity, dedication, and national pride.
The school was proudly represented by Fr. Simplicius Kerketta, Parish Priest; Fr. Joseph Bara, Vice Principal; and two dedicated teachers, who accompanied and encouraged the students throughout the event.
This remarkable achievement is a testament to the students’ hard work, discipline, and team spirit, supported by the unwavering guidance of their mentors. It serves as a source of inspiration for the entire school community to continue striving for excellence, unity, and patriotism.
