In a vibrant celebration of faith and youth fellowship, four parishes surrounding the Salesian Parish of Shallang, under Zone IV of the Diocese of Nongstoin, came together for a three-day Youth Convention held from 18th to 20th July 2025. Themed “Pilgrims of Hope,” the convention brought together enthusiastic young people for days of prayer, reflection, and joyful company.
The event was graced by Rev. Fr. Januarius S. Sangma, Principal of Don Bosco College, Tura, who served as the Chief Guest. In his address, he encouraged the youth to remain steadfast in their faith, to be messengers of hope, and to live with courage and conviction in a challenging world.
Rev. Fr. Markus Lakra SDB, Rector and Parish Priest of Shallang, extended a warm welcome to the Chief Guest, fellow priests, religious sisters, and all the youth participants. In his message, he expressed his joy at hosting the convention and hoped that every young person present would truly become a “Pilgrim of Hope,” reflecting the theme of the gathering.
The convention featured sessions on faith formation, group activities, cultural presentations, and moments of prayer and adoration. It served as a spiritually enriching experience, strengthening the bond among the parishes and inspiring the young people to walk together in faith and hope.
