The First Annual Spiritual Retreat 2025 commenced on 11th July 2025 with a spirit of quiet reflection and spiritual renewal. Held at a serene and contemplative location at Siloam, Umiam, Meghalaya, the retreat drew Salesians from across the province for a six days journey of prayer, meditation, and fraternity.
The retreat is being preached by Rev. Fr. Jose Varickasseril, SDB, professor and spiritual guide known for his deep insights to the Holy Scripture and pastoral wisdom. The opening day featured arrival and registration in the afternoon, followed by an opening talk by Fr. Varickasseril and Eucharistic Adoration, setting the spiritual tone for the days ahead. Fr. Bivan Rodrigues Mukhim, SDB, delivered the Goodnight Talk, inviting participants to enter the retreat with openness and joy.
Spanning from 11th to 17th July, the retreat schedule includes daily guided meditation, spiritual talks, Eucharistic celebrations, adoration, and ample time for personal prayer and reflection. A Penitential Service and Confession is scheduled for 15th July, giving participants the opportunity to experience the mercy and healing of the Lord.
The retreat will conclude on 17th July with a Holy Mass celebrated by Fr. Sebastian Kuricheal, SDB, Provincial and a moment of thanksgiving.
Themed around Mark 6:31 – “Come away to a deserted place all by yourselves and rest a while” – the retreat is a sacred pause in the rhythm of Salesian life, inviting each participant to rediscover the joy of their vocation and to be re-energized in the Holy Spirit.
