Rev Fr Biju Michael SDB, Regional of South Asia along with the Provincials of South Asia at the inauguration of SPCSA Assembly at Bengaluru.
The SPCSA Assembly 2025 officially began on 8th July at the Don Bosco Skill Mission, Bengaluru, bringing together provincials, delegates, and network leaders from across South Asia for reflection, evaluation, and planning.
The day commenced with morning prayers (Lauds) at 7:00 AM in the Mother Theresa Hall, animated by the Bangalore INK Province, setting a prayerful tone for the proceedings. This was followed by the Holy Eucharist, presided over by Fr. Biju Michael SDB, the Regional Councillor for South Asia, and concelebrated by Fr. Clive Telles SDB (Provincial of INP) and Fr. John Zosiama SDB (Provincial of INS).
In his homily, Fr. Biju reflected on the Gospel message, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few,” calling the Assembly to contemplate the Master of the Harvest and His abundant blessings. Drawing from the First Reading about Jacob and Esau, he urged the assembly to be mindful of pride and ego, reminding that God’s blessings, like Jacob’s limp, must become visible signs of transformation in our lives.
The inaugural session was held at the Kalam Auditorium of DB Tech, beginning with a graceful prayer dance by the students of Valsalee Bhavan. This was followed by a welcome address by Rev. Fr. Jose Koyickal SDB, Provincial of Bangalore, who expressed his delight in hosting the SPCSA Assembly once again in the INK Province. He warmly welcomed all members, delegates, and invitees on behalf of the confreres and the DBSM family, highlighting Bengaluru’s tradition of hospitality.
A special online address was delivered by Rev. Fr. Fabio Attard SDB, former General Councillor for Youth Ministry and currently representing the Rector Major. He congratulated the South Asia Region for its vibrant mission and for making Don Bosco’s presence strongly felt in the region. His message was followed by a Q&A session, allowing participants to interact with him directly.
The afternoon session was dedicated to presentations of reports from various network heads and commissions, reviewing the past year’s progress and ongoing initiatives.
Representing the Province of Guwahati, Rev. Fr. Sebastian Kuricheal SDB, Provincial, and Rev. Fr. Bivan Rodrigues Mukhim SDB, Vice Provincial, actively participated in the proceedings, contributing insights from the eastern region.Top of Form
