Rev. Fr. Sebastian Kuricheal SDB, the Provincial of the Salesian Province of Guwahati and Chief of the Don Bosco Scout and Guide District, paid a significant visit to the ongoing Mini Boscoree and Scout Master Training Camp at Don Bosco School, Barpeta Road. The camp, which began on 30th June and will conclude on 4th July 2025, has drawn more than 1300 enthusiastic Scouts and Guides from various Don Bosco institutions across the Province.
Fr. Kuricheal’s presence at the camp added a special dimension to the event. As the Chief of the Don Bosco Scout and Guide District, to which all the Don Bosco Scouts and Guides are affiliated, his visit symbolised strong support and encouragement for the youth and their formation in the spirit of service and leadership.
During his interaction with the campers, Fr. Kuricheal was honoured with the presentation of the Baden Powell’s Cap, a gesture that underlined the values of scouting and the respect of the scouting community for its leadership.
In his address to the gathering, the Provincial extended heartfelt congratulations to the Camp Chief and the entire organising team for successfully coordinating such a large-scale and vibrant event. He also expressed deep appreciation to Don Bosco School, Barpeta Road, for hosting the programme and providing the necessary infrastructure and support.
Speaking to the Scouts and Guides, Fr. Kuricheal encouraged them to embody the true spirit of scouting by being ever ready to serve humanity. “Be generous in offering yourselves for the service of others,” he said, urging them to take up responsibilities with enthusiasm and commitment whenever called upon.
The visit of the Provincial not only uplifted the spirits of the young participants but also reaffirmed the importance of scout and guide training in nurturing disciplined, service-minded, and community-oriented youth. The camp continues to foster camaraderie, leadership, and personal growth among the young participants under the dynamic guidance of the Scout Masters and Guide Captains.
