Most Rev. Bp. Thomas Pulloppillil, D.D., Bishop of Bongaigaon along with the priests and faithful people of Dotma Parish.
The 37th Annual Conference of St. Francis Xavier Parish, Dotma, took place on February 8th and 9th with the theme, “The Lord is my Rock” (Psalm 18:2). The event, held at the parish grounds, was a moment of deep spiritual reflection and community bonding.
The conference began with the blessing of the pandal by the Rector and Parish Priest, Fr. Sebastian Edathumparambil, SDB, in the presence of priests, religious, and parishioners. Fr. Matthew Kisku, a member of the Dotma Parish currently serving in the Guwahati Archdiocese, delivered an inspiring talk on the theme.
The day continued with the sacrament of Confession, followed by the Holy Eucharist presided over by Fr. Justin Narzary, SDB. A delegate meeting was later held to select new members for the parish council.
The first day concluded with a communal dinner and a screening of The Face of the Faceless, a film on Blessed Rani Maria, highlighting the power of forgiveness.
The second day began with morning prayer and a flag-hoisting ceremony. His Excellency, Most Rev. Bp. Thomas Pulloppillil, D.D., Bishop of Bongaigaon, was welcomed with traditional gamusas and cultural performances from the Boro, Adivasi, Rabha, and Santali communities. A felicitation program honored the Bishop, priests, religious sisters, catechists, and distinguished guests, with a special moment dedicated to celebrating Fr. Sebastian’s birthday.
The highlight of the event was the Solemn Holy Eucharistic Celebration, presided over by Bishop Thomas Pulloppillil. In his homily, he emphasized the importance of the Holy Eucharist in strengthening the faith community. A significant moment was the First Holy Communion of approximately 75 children, marking a profound milestone in their spiritual journey.
