Protection of Minors/Women in Work Place
The Protection of Minors and Women in the Workplace Commission of the Province continues to uphold the Salesian mission of safeguarding the dignity and rights of every child and woman within our institutions. The commission is actively engaged in building a safe and protective environment across all houses and centres of the Province.
Activities Undertaken by the Commission:
- Implementation of the Child Protection Policy (CPP):
All institutions of the Province have been instructed to fully implement the Salesian Child Protection Policy. The policy is to be made known to all staff (both teaching and non-teaching) and all Salesians working in the institutions.
- Mandatory Awareness Programmes:
Institutions are required to conduct regular awareness sessions on child safety and protection measures. These sessions help staff members understand their roles and responsibilities in ensuring a safe environment for children and minors.
- Signing of the Child Protection Policy:
All Salesians and staff are required to read, understand, and sign the Child Protection Policy, affirming their commitment to uphold and enforce its provisions.
- Training on Workplace Safety for Women:
On Saturday, 5th April 2025, Snehalaya Child Friendly Guwahati (Don Bosco CFG) organized a staff training programme focused on the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013. The training aimed to equip staff with the knowledge needed to create a safe and respectful work environment for all.
The session was led by Ms. Anurita Pathak Hazarika, Executive Director of North East Network (NEN)and a renowned women’s rights activist. She provided a comprehensive overview of the Act, covering legal provisions, institutional responsibilities, and redressal mechanisms.
The programme was graced by Mr. Deb Malliya Biswas Choudhury, Director of SOS Village, who appreciated the initiative and underlined the importance of promoting safety and awareness in every workplace.
