Cooperators & ADMA

Salesian Cooperators & ADMA:

The Salesian Cooperators of Guwahati Province, under the leadership of Delegate Fr. Sebastian Ishorary SDB and Coordinator Mrs. Cecilia Topno, continue to strengthen their mission of lay collaboration in Don Bosco’s charism. With 146 promised members and 13 aspirants across 7 centers, the commission is actively engaged in formation, pastoral work, and expansion efforts.

Current Status and Statistics

  1. Membership:

Total Promised Members: 146 across 6 established centers (Dotma, Garobadha, Guwahati, Kokrajhar, Mazbat, Tezpur)

Aspirants: 13, with additional 76 aspirants across 4 sub-centers (Solabasti, Holy Child-Guwahati, Damra, Shallang)

  • Organizational Structure:

Council members oversee key areas: Youth Ministry (Mr. Rahul Basumatary), Family Apostolate (Charles Sangma), and Pastoral Ministry (Mr. Manoranjan Basumatary).

Unit animators appointed for each center, e.g., Fr. Sibi John (Garobadha), Fr. Sebastian Ishorary (Guwahati).

Key Activities and Initiatives

  1. Formation and Vocation Promotion:

Weekly prayer meetings and family rosary initiatives.

Monthly animation programs and annual provincial congress.

Focused efforts to recruit new vocations and accompany aspirants through structured formation.

  • Expansion Plans:

Establishment of new Salesian Cooperators’ units in all centers lacking one.

Designation of rectors/in-charges for each community to ensure localized leadership.

  • Pastoral Engagement:

Weekly animation of Sunday liturgies.

Solidarity projects to strengthen community bonds and outreach.

Future Goals (2025 and Beyond)

  1. Growth Targets:

Expand membership by 20% through targeted vocation campaigns.

Formalize formation curricula for aspirants across all centers.

  • Organizational Development:

Strengthen sub-centers like Shallang (29 aspirants) and Damra (10 aspirants) into full-fledged units.

Enhance collaboration with SDBs and FMAs for joint initiatives.

  • Provincial Integration:

Align activities with the province’s pastoral and educational priorities.

Increase participation in Salesian family events at regional and national levels.
