A day of immense joy and spiritual significance unfolded on Saturday, 18th January 2025, as Fr. Birendra Dungdung, SDB, was ordained a priest of God by His Lordship Most Rev. Kishore Kumar Kujur, Bishop of the Rourkela Diocese. The ordination ceremony, held at St. Mary’s Church, Singarmunda, began at 8:00 AM and witnessed a massive gathering of priests, religious, and faithful who came together to celebrate this blessed occasion.
The ordination liturgy was marked by solemn prayers and hymns, reflecting the deep faith of the congregation. In his homily, Bishop Kujur emphasized the sacredness of the priestly vocation, stating, “Every priest is a fruit of the prayers of the People of God. God answers the prayers of the faithful by raising priests from simple and holy families. Once missionaries came to our land; now it is payback time for us to send missionaries all over the world. Every priestly ordination is proof of the depth of the faith of the People of God.”
Bishop Kujur further encouraged Fr. Birendra to remain steadfast in his vocation, reminding him that every priest, whether belonging to a diocese or congregation, is ultimately a priest of God at the service of His people. “Persevere in holiness and be a worthy instrument of God in serving His people,” he advised.
Representing the Provincial and the Province of Guwahati, Rev. Fr. Charles Deepen Lakra, SDB, Province Secretary, presented Fr. Birendra to the Bishop for the rite of ordination, affirming the support and blessings of the Salesian Congregation.
In an emotional moment of gratitude, Fr. Birendra Dungdung, SDB, expressed his heartfelt thanks to God, his family, and the entire Salesian Congregation for their prayers, guidance, and unwavering support in his journey to priesthood.
