A four-day Vocation Camp for boys of the Bodoland Region was inaugurated at Don Bosco School, Amguri, from 10 to 13 January 2026, with the participation of 15 boys who have successfully passed Class VII. The camp was organised as part of its ongoing effort to promote and nurture vocations to the Priesthood and Religious Life.

The camp was formally inaugurated by Rev. Fr. John Mathias Marak, SDB, the Vocation Promoter of the Province, who was also the Chief Guest of the occasion. The inaugural session began with a prayer, invoking God’s guidance and blessings upon the participants as they embarked on this important journey of vocational discernment.

In his inaugural address, Fr. John Mathias Marak spoke passionately about the urgent need for vocations in the Church today, especially vocations to the Priesthood and Religious Life. He emphasized that the Lord continues to call young people, but it is essential that they respond with generosity, courage, and openness of heart. Highlighting the Salesian charism, he encouraged the boys to seriously consider the Salesian call, rooted in love for the young, service to the poor, and joyful commitment to God’s mission.

Fr. Mathias briefly presented the life of St John Bosco, drawing attention to the humble beginnings of the Salesian Congregation. He spoke of Don Bosco’s deep faith, unwavering trust in God, and extraordinary courage, through which the Congregation grew from a small oratory into a worldwide missionary family dedicated to the education and evangelisation of the young. His reflection helped the participants understand that great works often begin with small steps taken in faith.

Stressing the importance of proper vocational discernment, Fr. Mathias urged the participants to listen attentively to God’s voice through prayer, reflection, and guidance. He reminded them that vocational camps are not merely about choosing a religious life, but about discovering God’s will so as to become effective and committed Salesians, or, for those called otherwise, good and responsible Christians who contribute positively to society.

The inauguration marked the beginning of a spiritually enriching experience for the young aspirants. Over the course of the camp, the participants are expected to engage in moments of prayer, interactive sessions, group activities, and guidance talks aimed at fostering personal growth, discipline, and a deeper understanding of the Salesian way of life.
