The Vocation Camp for the Assam Plain Region was inaugurated on the evening of 27 December 2025 at Christ the King Parish, Dimakuchi, marking a significant moment of reflection and discernment for the young participants. The camp was inaugurated by Rev Fr Bivan Rodrigues Mukhim SDB, Vice Provincial, in the presence of Rev Fr Ethelbert Minj SDB, Provincial Councillor, Rev Fr Anugrah Tete SDB, Rector and Parish Priest of Dimakuchi, Rev Fr John Mathias Marak SDB, Vocation Promoter of the Province, Rev Fr Albinus Dhanwar SDB, Principal of Don Bosco School, Dimakuchi and the Salesian brothers.

Welcoming the participants, Rev Fr Anugrah Tete SDB spoke on the purpose of the vocation camp and invited the young boys to open their hearts to God’s call. He encouraged them to pray earnestly so that the Lord may call them and send them forth as missionaries after the heart of Don Bosco, dedicated to the service of the young and the poor.

Addressing the gathering, Rev Fr Ethelbert Minj SDB invited the participants to experience the Salesian way of life during the camp. He emphasized that the vocation camp should inspire them to “follow the Lord” who calls them to be with Him and sends them out to proclaim the Good News with joy and commitment.

In the first session following the inauguration, Rev Fr Bivan Rodrigues Mukhim SDB spoke on the importance of the vocation camp and the reason for attending it. He underlined that “God calls all” to love and serve Him and to love and serve one another. He explained that while some respond to God’s invitation through religious profession, others live out their vocation in married life. The fullness of every vocation, he said, lies in serving God with love by responding generously to His call, particularly through priestly and religious life.

Rev Fr John Mathias Marak SDB later shared the timetable of the camp and informed the participants about the various resource persons who would animate and guide them during the course of the vocation camp. The inaugural programme concluded with a sense of enthusiasm and hope, as the participants embarked on a journey of prayer, discernment, and deeper understanding of God’s call in their lives.
